Manu Ginobili is a professional Argentinian basketball player. He announced his retirement on Monday, 27 August after 16 years in the NBA. Ginobili won four championships throughout his career. He spent all 16 of those years with the San Antonio Spurs. In this time he helped to establish and continue one of the most consistently great teams in modern NBA history. He became one of only two players to have won a EuroLeague title, an NBA championship, and an Olympic gold medal.

Ginóbili comes from a family of professional basketball players. He spent the early part of his career in Argentina and Italy. Here is where he holds dual citizenship, and won several individual and team honours.

Ginobili will go down as one of the most innovative and creative players in recent memory, with a knack for finding the basket anyway he could.

With his departure, the Spurs will enter the 2018-19 season without a member of their “Big Three” Duncan, Parker, or Ginobili for the first time in 20 years.
