Danny Garcia vs Shawn Porter Fight review – Saturday the 8th of September 2018.

Garcia controlled the early rounds with clean and hard counter shots as Porter began in a passive style by not using his jab and circling from the outside. As the middle rounds arrived Porter pushed the pace against Danny Garcia until the final bell. Porter’s dedication and determination helped him land the vacant WBC strap. Although Garcia landed more shots, it was Porter who was the progressive fighter.

Porter oppressed Garcia on the inside and threw outstanding punches. Porter’s activity made an impression on the judges who saw it his way. One judge scored the fight 116-112 and the other two judges gave Porter a two-point advantage at 115-113.

Garcia had his moments with counter right hands, left hooks and combinations. He also executed solid work to the body. However, it was Porter who established his jab and created some offense from distance.

While Porter was able to gain Garcia’s respect at distance. Porter won the fight as most expected. Porter’s head movement and level-changing power shots kept Garcia on his back foot. It almost never fails in boxing, the fighter who throws more punches almost always gets the nod from the judges.
