United Secures Champions League

A victorious finish for United at Old Trafford this past Thursday evening as they smash Chelsea 4-1 securing them a spot in next season’s Championship League

Chelsea got thrashed during their 90min battle as Casemiro, Martial, Fernandes and Rashford all scored for the home team.

Chelsea only managed to get in a last min goal with a goal from the Portuguese forward, Joao Felix.

Back in August all seemed lost to Erik ten Hag’s team when they lost their home game to Brighton. However, United got their head in the game and haven’t lost a single home match in the Premier League season since then. Their last game for the season will be against Fulham this Sunday at Old Trafford.

This was a goal that was set by the Dutch coach after arriving from Ajax. A goal that was quickly achieved after starting only last April. A credit that is well deserved.

Man United won their 6th Carabao Cup after beating Newcastle in the final 2-0 in late Feb this year. In 7 days’ time, they will face City in the final for the FA Cup at Wembley Stadium. This has been a really encouraging season for the Red Devils.

United only needed 1 point from these last 2 games to obtain their spot in the top 4. Not only did they manage to score that one point but ended up making 6 in total from their win.

Mudryk’s early miss was punished by Casemiro’s header 6 min into the match.

Marcus saw his 30th goal of the season after Bruno’s penalty. Unfortunately, Antony had to be carried out on a stretcher and replaced with Garnacho in the 70th min.

Early in the night, Eriksen took the free kick for United. The Brazilian midfielder Casemiro’s leaped into the air and with a header powered the Red Devils into quick lead. A quick off-side check from VAR who then confirmed the first goal of the night.

Their score doubled in extra time just before the halftime whistle when Sancho’s cutback was swopped out for a goal by Anthony Martial.

20min later the French striker got substituted out and taken off the field on a stretcher.

A penalty goal from 12 yards away pushes the home team further up the scoreboard and away from Chelsea possibly seeing a win for the night. This was THE goal that confirmed their spot in the Champions League, all thanks to Bruno Feranandes.

The first yellow card of the night is seen given to both sides. Chelsea midfielder Fernandez who reacts poorly to United defender Malacia as Sancho gets stuck in the middle of the argument.

The yellow doesn’t dampen United’s mood as Rashford strikes the ball into the net moments later.

A consolation goal from the 23-year-old Chelsea forward, Joao, minutes before the final whistle doesn’t seem to change any of United’s wins tonight. United moves up into third place on the table, 3 spots better than last season with one game left.
