With the EPL season starting in only 2 days we will definitely be seeing new faces this season. Some of the teams playing in this year’s EPL are gaining some new talent.
Let’s see who has been chosen which teams:
RIYAD MAHREZ (Manchester City)
Already they have midfielders Raheem Sterling, Bernardo Silva, Leroy Sane, David Silva with their rising star Phil Foden. But do they need someone who compliments them?
In January 2015-16 City and Leicester were going to conclude a deal in January for the English soccer’s Player of the year but failed to do so. This Algeria winger doesn’t need to be worried about that because City maintained their interest which concluded in Mahres sealing a club-record $80 million move. This gives another attacking option to manager Pep Guardiola with a player who can work behind any striker.
He mostly plays on the right wing, while cutting in on his left foot. Although Sterling and Bernardo Silva are the already, City will most probably opt to use Mahrez centrally. Guardiola is looking to manage the 32-year-old David Silva’s game time.
FRED (Manchester United)
Fred who is a Brazil international gives United more energy and solidity in the central field. He will potentially offer fellow midfielder Paul Pogba a platform to be more expensive and attacking this season.
He joined from Shakhtar Donetsk for $66 million. Most probably playing alongside anchorman Nemanja Matic and also Pogba he will take up a position in midfield. He should probably play in his preferred place in the left of a central three which will entail fewer defensive responsibilities.
United manager Jose Mourinho was talking about Fred giving this team “another dimension” maybe this is what he was talking about?
He played as the Brazillian goalkeeper for Brazil in the World Cup. He played of the games and thus provides a solution to Liverpool’s obvious weakness. Will Juergens Klopp’s team be a genuine contender for the EPL this season?
Loris Karius was never a long-term solution as he made 2 huge mistakes in the Champions League final when they played against Real Madrid in May.
Allison made a definite upgrade when he signed for Liverpool. He is a strong all-around keeper and he only ever makes a mistake which leads to a goal. He made his move at around $85 million making him the most expensive goalkeeper in history. Quick on his feet, he provides Klopp’s something he demands.
Many believed he was destined for Manchester City but instead he ended up signing with Chelsea for $75 million.
The 26-year-old Italian born player, Jorginho is a midfielder who made more touches for Napoli in a minute than any other player in Europe’s top 5 leagues last season.
He will be able to pass from the midfield while instigating attacks, which will allow marauding N’Golo Kante to be able to play further forward. Thus they will be able to play alongside a more creative central midfield like Cesc Fabregas or Ross Barkley.
